The Ait Bougmez Valley, also known as the "Happy Valley," is a picturesque and remote valley located in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Your driver picks you up in Marrakech at 8am and drives about 2,5 h to Ouzoud waterfalls where you can go for a 1h hike around these beautiful waterfalls, known for their stunning beauty. They are about 110 meters (360 feet) in height and are surrounded by lush greenery. You then continue to Azilal city for lunch before you go over the high Atlas Mountains to reach Rbat village where a Berber family will welcome you with mint tea on the beautiful terrace of the Berber house where you will be staying for the night. You can either immerse yourself in the village or simply relax on the house’s rooftop and enjoy the view looking at locals coming back from work in the fields.
After your breakfast you are to enjoy your donkey ride through the fields along the Aghbalou river up to the spring then back to the village. You can then take a shower and get lunch before getting ready for an amazing walk taking you through mud houses in multiple Berber villages and appreciate their beautiful architecture. You are also to visit dinosaurs’ footprints located in Ibakliwen village and continue your walk towards Ait imi village to hit your final destination for the day, the Kasbah Mgoun which is sitting in the heart of the Happy Valley where you are going to sleep tonight.
By 8am your guide takes you to explore the storage of Sidi moussa top of Timmit hill followed by the next destination Aarous valley where you will discover the wonderful gorges while walking towards the village of Aarous where you will be staying for the nigh. You will also visit a Berber family living in the village and experience the local music performed by the family members while you’re having thyme tea with them. Stay in the auberge.
You are now heading back to Marrakech via the amazing valley of Ait Bououlli known as the red valley because of its red clay. You will enjoy many stunning views along the way before you get to the natural bridge, where you will be having lunch before hitting the road back to Marrakech. 5 hours drive is estimated today, reaching your starting point by 6 pm.
